Chance showed his consternation but that was saying more than Cord expected. He hated prying but he had to know. His gambit would not work if there was any miscues at this juncture.
"Thats great. Shes on her way up in a few moments. I think maybe you should sit in. You both can bring me up to speed and we can even pull Takanashita in. It'll help us get our operation up and running at speed."

He nodded. "I'll sit in." Chance wondered if Cord had questioned Rayvan about him. He'd have to ask her, when they were alone. "We need more questions answered before we take Max down for good. He may know things that we can pull out of him, if we can take him alive. Is Tak likely to go along with that?"
Chance still had his questions about the man. He didn't like the way Tak had acted that first day in the squad room, and he hadn't forgotten that. the man was strange and there was something about him that just wasn't... right.

Rayvan had dropped her gear on her desk and grabbed a cup of coffee, that put her just in time for meeting Cord in his office like he had requested. She glanced at her watch, fifteen minutes exactly. She knocked on the door before pushing it open.
She saw Chance sitting there with Cord and she had to wonder why, maybe it was nothing, and maybe something. She could always ask Chance without ever speaking a word but she didn't know if she wanted to chance it here. She she kept her shields in place and didn't send the thought that crowded to the front of her mind.
"You wanted to see me Cap'n." She strolled into the room, coffee in hand and set herself down in the other chair next to Chance. She wondered if it was an update on the case meeting or an inquisition or a bit of both.

"Impeccable timing Wolfbaen. Mayhew here was giving you one of the highest compliments a rookie could ever have. He has placed his full faith in your capabilities. Which is a great start for the newest addition in full to our RPIT family."
Sliding open the desk drawer Cord removed her badge and credentials. He'd pulled a loom full of strings to get these expedited. It would cost him 2 year old scotch and two courtside tickets but it was looking as if it might be worth it.
Allowing himself a small smile cord watched as Wolfbaen grabbed the items before going on. Cord dived back into his and Chances conversation. "Okay so we have Miss Winters, Max Logan, a dead Arcadian, and what else? You two have to fill me in on everything I'm a mild nega. So I tend to dampen all this preternatural gobbledy gook that we make our bread dealing with."
Cord knew what he'd done. It was his attempt at showing he trusted them. It wasn't common knowledge hat he was anything other than what he was and he'd like it to stay that way. Trust couldn't be betrayed if at first it wasn't given. He'd learned that the hard way and was determined to not repeat his mistakes.
Flipping through his otes he looked from one officer to the other waiting...

Chance smiled as Rayvan got her badge. He's known she passed; he'd bribed the old battle ax proctor with a winning smile and a compliment to her dedication and, surprisingly, she'd bent and told him the results. Who said Chance wasn't brave?
He was surprised at Cord's admission, for several reasons. He exchanged a quick glance with Rayvan, wondering if she would tell Cord about herself. It was a game evener, maybe, but Chance wasn't sure how his partner would take it.
He looked at Cord, figuring that, if Ravan didn't feel comfortable telling Cord about her own talent, it would all be on him. "We've also, apparently, got a prince and a hunt of some sort, maybe 'the' Hunt.

Rayvan smiled at Cord when he started speaking, "Aim to please Cap'n." She threw Chance a look as Cord told her about the compliment. Flashing him a wide, open, friendly smile. She accepted the badge that she was handed, looking down at it. She had done it, finally accomplished what she had set out to do.
At Cord's admission Rayvan glanced at Chance, she knew that her secret was safe unless she decided to reveal it. Chance would never rat her out. She wondered at the reasoning behind Cord's words, wondering if he suspected or was just fishing. Only one way to know for sure. Rayvan always told it how it was, her and Chance were partners and their gifts worked well together.
She took a deep breath, "And what ever is going on also has something to do with the local streak. And something.... one of the groups...Hyskos... Hyksos? Was that right Chance?"

Cord raised an eyebrow at the two officers silence. Being a mild nega he could feel the small push that he had around the two officers. He knew what it meant but for now he would let it drop dead. Back to the business of policing it would be. He only hoped that this was the right step o take.
"Hyksos well isn't that the name of the local Kiss. Hyksos Kubri. So let me see if we got this right...
A dead Arcadian. HAL which is a minor lobbyist public opinion group. Miss Winters an Arcadian. The local Streak. Max Logan which could mean organized crime involvement. A prince which could mean god knows what probably Arcadian as well. A Mage who was killed. And last but not least a Hunt as maybe the Wildest of Hunts.
Well If thats not a fine how'd you do then nothing is. Good thing we are already on Max's trail. Now as for the other angles what do you think is the best tact. We don't want to involve too many other agencies as then we will marginalized."

"Yes, a real mess. And the mage that helped Max? He's dead now. A woman killed him. And I don't think it was connected at all to what Max was doing." Chance shrugged. "Part of the problem that Rayvan and I have is that we're too new to Chicago to know the various groups, or have any connections to any of them."
Chance wasn't about to bring up what Rayvan had said about having a connection to one of the groups. That was her business and not for passing around.
"And don't forget that our dead Arcadian isn't all the way dead. And he was carrying a message that we don't even know who was for." Yes, a giant convoluted mess.

On Chance's last statement Rayvan almost cringed, well here it comes. The question of how they got their information. With a small sigh she decided she might as well get it over and done with. "Look, Cap'n. It's like this, there is some freaky deaky shit going down in this town. What I got out of that dead-not dead Arcadian's head didn't all add up. But what did add up, was we got some serious problems."
There it was said, she was out of the closet, the captain now knew her secret. What he did with it, well she would just have to see. She cast a worried glance at Chance, wondering if she had done the right thing. If not it was too late to turn back now. She really hoped she could trust Cord to keep her secret.

"Okay thats great you're a freak like the rest of us. I thought so but I wouldn't have held it against you if you wanted that card for your own. Tak's working the Max angle. He'll probably hit a wall if this all ties into each other. The dead guys not dead. Talk about all of the problems none of the perks. Lets get our ducks in a row the trail is as cold as my first wifes heart. So we have to find a way to heat things back up. With the Arcadians in town doing their revel it might be just the place to start. Do you guys want this or should wwe assign Tak?" He'd seen the way Rayvan had responded to the man during her test. It was not that conducive of a working arrangement but then again his second wife and he had started much the same way. Hell on their first official date she still laid him a good one across the chops. Unfortunately with Chances seeming distaste for the Arcadians it would be a bad idea to send him into a bevy of them all being free and Fae-like...
