Cord waited outside while the procter unloaded his books. The woman had to be nearing eighty. Yet, she refused to allow anyone to help her.She was the same obstinant tough as leather biddy that she was when Cord took the test. She never changed. Cord had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep form laughing out loud as she shooed away one of the beat cops.
As she drew closer Cord nodded good morning and followed her in. He hoped that the trainees wouldn't be late the procter would have them for breakfast...

Rayvan was rushing, she didn't want to be late but she had been reluctant to leave her dreams of Hiero and crawl form her bed. She hadn't wanted to move, her body had been warm and her mind had been relaxed. She had however crawled from the warmth and the dreams and readied herself for work.
And so now she had to hurry, she knew that Captain Cord would be waiting for her. Today was test day, it was the day she got to prove herself, and make the grade. She made it to the door just as it was closing and pulled it open rushing in, and almost bowling over Captain Cord and someone else that she had never met. "Good morning Sir." She was a bit breathless but not so winded that it would be overly apparent.

Tak wanted to see what Rayvn was made of. Tak knew his presence would be felt and he wanted it that way. Tak also wanted to talk with Cord. So why not kill two birds with one stone. Over the past few days Tak realized that humans have quirks that help them deal with stress. Most of the officers here dealt with stress with cigarettes and coffee. Tak liked neither so he adjusted with hot chocolate addiction. Walking around with those small Styrofoam cups was annoying. Taking a sip every so often.
Tak walked in the training room a right behind Rayvn yet far behind where it didn't seem like he was trailing her. Seeing her in action was vital. This is only a training session, but he could get a guesstimate of her physical abilities.
Tak never forgot the look Cord had given him at the last meeting. He guessed that Cord was keeping a bit of an eye on him. Good, that could be used to his advantage. Keeping his presence around will keep everyone on there toes.
"Hi Captain just here to give my moral support, and to talk to you when your done with the trainees."

"Its Cord, Wolfbaen unless the brass are around. Go knock them dead, lets make you official. Well, Takanashita we can speak now the madam proctor won't let us go any further. Besides I've been meaning to talk to you anyways. Your last C.O gave you the worst glowingest recommendation I've ever heard." Cord fought the urge to shiver as Takanashita came through the door. He even managed an honest smile. However at the back of his mind was a loudly screaming whisper to shoot the man and be done with it. His shrink would love that one.

Tak thought to himself maybe he walks with a stench. Cord's face held firm but not his eyes. Cord must have practiced that smile a hundred times in the mirror. He could see the thoughts battling in his head, to run or not to run, to kill or not to kill. Oh Max when shall ye strike next. Step two almost draws near.
"I thought for a second you were avoiding me Captain. I know I make quite an impact on people but Jeesh." Tak's face was serious, fierce, as if he could bite Cord's head off. "Whats a man gotta do to get people to lighten up?" Now with a smile on his face; "So Cap whats on your agenda?"

Rayvan smiled and nodded at the Captain, "I'll do my best Cord," RAyvan started to follow the proctor when Tak entered the training area. That guy really did give her the creeps, so far she had managed to get off without touching him. she hoped that she could continue to do so. When she turned her eyes to him they were completely flat showing nothing of what she was thinking, she had gotten quite good at the expression over the years. She only showed people what she wanted them to see.
Being a telepath, one always had to play their cards close to the vest, don't give away too much, and so she had practiced that flat expression until even those closest to her couldn't see through it if she didn't wish it, "Hello Takanashita, moral support you say? How charming." She knew she sounded snide and that was exactly the way she meant to sound. She wouldn't make any bones about her dislike or her distrust, until he earned it he was not getting it from her.
When those words said she turned and followed the proctor so she could get her test taken and out of the way and make the rank she needed to stay within RPIT.

"Wolfbaen think about the finish line you'll do fine." Cord said turning to Takanashita. Squaring his shoulders he looked the man over. " I am avoiding you. You worry me a bit. If you weren't so decorated within Ro/Ho I'd never consider you for the team. Your methods are questionable at times. You somehow manage to just stay short of the line that would have you up before Professional Standards. I'd like you to teach Crusinski your tricks he's a good officer and he took one for the team but I can't force you to care. So yes I avoid you. I'm taking a predominately hands off approach to the new team as that is what the brass wants. They thought that I was too involved with the previous incarnation of RPIT so here we are. As for my agenda thats outside your pay grade. Stick to whatever case you're assigned. Clear. Good I'm glad we had this talk." Cord doffed an imaginary hat and went to step past the big man...

"At least your honest, buuuuuuuutttttttt" Tak said very slowly. "The only thing that is ever questionable about me, is how good I am. I come decorated because I know the line and I don't tow it. Rather you believe it or not I do adhere to an ethical standard. Yet, I still get the job done. I don't care if you and the rest of the runts here don't like me, don't question my pristine record. This department needs a leader and it is about to fall apart even before its starting. You have good people here, really talented. Don't lean off, don't be a daddy, be a god damn leader Captain. Don't like what I'm saying get rid of me or do something about it, go and avoid that."
Tak moved out the Captains way. He gave him a big dose of reality and wasn't sure if his stay at RPIT had been cut short. Things needed to be said. His career would fast track no matter what agency he worked for. Being let go was of no consequence.
He looked at Rayvn "Good luck I know you'll do a fantastic job. Oh and break a leg out there." He let his tone say she was a spoiled runt and her tone was insignificant. He returned her fake smile "Its showtime."

Rayvan smiled and went to settle into a seat to start the written part of the testing. She knew she shouldn't have any problem with this, she had studied it over and over. She was as prepared as anyone could be. She took a deep breath and smiled at the lady Proctor as she was handed her test.
Rayvan picked up her pencil and looked down at the paper before, her head swam with all the information. She closed her eyes for a moment to steady herself and then she began. She flew through the questions, most she didn't even have to think about, she just knew.
It didn't take her nearly the prescribed time to finish the test, in truth she finished it in half the time it had been stated it would take. She reread through the test just to make sure she had it all done and was ready to move on. She rose quietly from her seat and handed the test in. Anxious now to be done with everything, she had a job to do after all.

Cord would have more words with Takanashita but not now he had other things to see to namely Crusinski. Tak hadn't made a mention of his partner. He hadn't even batted an eye. Which meant that all this time that Crusinski was to have been monitored he was off somewhere footloose and fancy free.
Curse the man for a fool that half cocked rogue bull had already netted the man a demotion. When would he learn. Perhaps never, perhaps only once he was actually dead. Whatever put a stop to him wouldn't happen on Cords watch. He stalked away from Takanashita drawing his phone dialing Crusinskis number. It went right to voice mail. Damn...
