Tore was standing against a wall with a full view of everything around him. He wasn't comfortable around this many people, but he hadn't been able to sleep. So he had gone for a walk. Usually he would sleep until four in the afternoon. He would eat something akin to the meal most people called breakfast. He would then go and work out at a gym for an hour or two before showing and heading off to work. He would work until around three (sometimes four in the morning). He would get back to sleep sometime between five and six. Then he would do it all over again when he woke up next.
Tore shook his head. That wasn't what was happening today. At least it was his day off. Otherwise he would have been screwed. There was only so much a body could handle without sleep and he always needed to be alert and aware to keep himself alive. Tore watched as everyone passed around him. Most all of them were older than him without a doubt. There were one or two here and there that he thought might be younger than him, but in generally, he was the youngest person around. No one would probably realize or notice it though. After all, if he could trick a bar owner into thinking he was twenty-one, why couldn't he trick these simpletons too.
Unless there was a were amongst them. Tore hand't thought of that. He should probably leave. The last thing he needed was to deal with another were. He was a swan after all and as every were knew...wereswans are considered prey.

The last place Thorn would have expected to find himself was on a campus, but the pay-as-you-go phone that he'd purchased to let potential marks for his big moneymaker scam had rung late yesterday and the mark was a professor, so he'd agreed to meet the man here at the school.
As was his usual practice, he'd come here to scope out the place, to get a feel for it and to make sure that there were no lurkers who might be cops. Not that he expected anything; the scam was too new here for anyone to be the wiser. He'd have to be extra cautious, though. He usually ran this scam when he was planning to move on quickly, and that wasn't the case here.
So, Thorn looked, really, little like himself today. He was in an expensive charcoal gray wol and silk blend suit, for one thing, and though he looked right good in it, his carriage and everything was different now. Thorn was more than a bit of a chameleon when he needed to be, and today, he looked more like a dean of one of the colleges than a scam artist or killer.
He was about to move off when he scented it, and his mouth began to water. His head swiveled and he zeroed in on the boy against the wall. What the hell was that, and why did he want so badly to eat the kid? He turned, and walked slowly toward the young man, resisting the urge to lick his lips.

Tore looked up once at the sky. He really wanted to fly right then. He still had trouble flying though. His wings were still partially crippled from the weretiger's attack. Tore just wished her knew where the tiger was. He was going to kill him. There was no thought or hesitation in that. He would kill him without a second thought. His father had taught him how to fight for a reason. Tore shoved himself away from the wall. He needed to leave. He had been there too long already. There were only two places he stayed at for any real length of time: his apartment and the bar he worked at. This school wasn't either of those places.
Tore scanned the crowd one last time and his eyes caught on one real threat. The man was coming in Tore's direction and Tore had a few options. He could stand here and see if the man was really coming to him. If that case then he was probably in trouble. He didn't recognize the man. He could try to catch his scent, but that was questionable. He had never had a good sense of smell and the wind probably wasn't in his favor either. Tore also had the option of trying to make a break for it. He wasn't a coward though. He wasn't stupid either. He was honestly afraid. He could fight, but there was always the chance that this man was stronger than him...better. This was just Tore's luck. The kid couldn't win for losing.
Tore chose to stand his ground. He stood tall and proud. He wasn't going to back down now or ever. He would make his father proud. He would make himself proud and somehow he would find a way to make it out of this thing alive. After it all...it would kind of suck to die at seventeen.

He zeroed in on the kid, his nostrils flaring. What the hell was he that he smelled so... delicious? He wasn't human, Thorn had quickly gotten past the idea that humans smelled like food. But this? Thorn's wolf was close to the surface now and he brutally shoved it down. Still, he was sweating slightly by the time he got close to the boy.
"Don't run, kid, whatever you do. I'll lose it if you act like prey, because you sure as hell smell like prey. What are you?" His words were tight, harsh in his throat, as he fought the urge to take a hunk out of this kid.
He rocked back on his heels, close enough to talk, but not so close as to tempt himself further. His eyes glittered darkly as he watched the young man for any sign of running. The taint of fear on the air,was intoxicating and Thorn drank it in, his wolf whining to be released to feed on this tasty morsel.

The man was standing before him and there was no doubt in Tore's mind that he was a were. Even if he had felt doubt it would have been dispelled when the man spoke. Don't run, kid, whatever you do. I'll lose it if you act like prey, because you sure as hell smell like prey. What are you?
Tore held his body still crushing all instincts to run. It was hard to do. Every inborn instinct inside of him told him to run. Every instinct his father had cultivated inside of him told im to stand his ground. He made a choice between the two. He wasn't going to back down and be afraid. Or rather he wasn't going to show he was afraid. As far as any of the humans passing them by could tell, they were just have an ordinary conversation. He hoped it looked that way at least. Tore was still on rocky surface when it came to human interaction.
"Obviously not human," Tore replied calmly looking the man in the eyes. This guy could probably rip him apart and Tore wouldn't have a chance. This was just his luck. He really didn't need this stress above everything else. He just had to wake up early and meet a were. "I'm born were. My name is Tore Swann. You can make of that what you will. I won't run from you though. You don't have to worry about that."

"Born were?" Thorn's words were almost a challenge. His education on the monsters was sorely lacking, he was beginning to discover. In a way, it made sense. The Rom had no truck with monsters, and his education in the pack in Florida had been severely hampered by the resentment within the pack that Thorn's infection had brought about the putting down of the Bolverk's brother. There was so much he didn't know.
"Swan? I thought all shifters were predators. I was attacked by geese once as a child, but I hardly think they were planning to eat me." He took a huge breath, ignoring the rumbling of his stomach, and let it out as a soft sigh. "Relax, kid. I'm not gonna eat you. But if we're gonna keep talking I need to eat, so my beast isn't so tempted. I wasn't born like this, and I'm sorta new at it, so lets not test things, shall we?"

Tore considered. A were in front of him that said that he wasn't going to eat him. His expereience with other weres was limited, but the last time he had encountered one that wasn't a swan, the thing had tried to eat him. That had been on a full moon too though. He couldn't trust the man in front of him, but he could give the man some benefit of the doubt. "Eating would probably benefit both of us," Tore conceeded. "And not all were's are predators. An unfortunate fact seeing as how wereswans exist in the first place. And I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't call me kid. I might not be able to beat you, but I could at least hold my own...I do well enough everywhere else."
Tore was being rude and antogonistic. He couldn't help it. He was nervous. Maybe even a little frightened if he allowed himself to admit it. Who wouldn't be. There was someone bigger, stronger, and able to kill him standing not a few feet from him. Anyone in their right mind would at least be a little nervous. That and none of Tore's experiences with other weres besides swans had ever been good. He doubted this one would be different. In that aspect, he was too much like his dad.

Thorn grinned and bit back the words ‘sure, kid’ that rose to his tongue. “Don’t want me calling you kid, give me a name.” He didn’t volunteer his own; after all, he wasn’t being himself right now. He jerked his head in the direction of the little fast food kiosk that stood at the other end of the wall the kid was holding up and stepped back to give the young man room.
The idea that this kid thought he could hold his own against Thorn amused him. He’d killed three trained blades before he was anywhere near as old as this swan. But he said nothing. If it made the kid feel more secure, so be it.
He stepped up next to the boy as they walked, not that it would reassure him, but it was better than stalking at his heels. Yeah, food was need here, and fast. His stomach was growling and the kid smelled way too good. Food good. That was bad.

Don’t want me calling you kid, give me a name.
Tore frowned. He thought he had been clear earlier but apparently other weres weren't as intelligent...or maybe this man was an exception. Tore watched as the man jerked his head towards a food kiosk. Tore started walking towards the kiosk with the man at his side. He wondered if the man was doing it for self-control, reassurance, or for appearances. It was proabaly a companation of two of the options. He didn't know and didn't care which two of them.
"I did give you a name," Tore said barely just refraining from snapping. "It is not my fault that you didn't catch it. Think really hard and I bet you'll be able to dig it out of your memory. Just think a little were."

“Don’t be flip. I’m about this far,” he raised thumb and forefinger to show les than an inch between them, “from taking your throat out, and I really don’t want to do that. So excuse me if I don’t break my focus right now.”
He didn’t need this, but then, neither did the kid. He thrust his wolf back and tried to catch the smell of some food other than that which walked at his side. As soon as they reached the food kiosk, he looked over at the swan. “Order whatever you want. I’ll buy. It’s the least I can do.” He kept the gruff voice, his eyes scanning the area, force of habit, more than anything. “You a student here? Thorn tried to focus on the obvious, to keep his head clear, to keep his wolf at bay.
