Jay forced a smile at the man when he said he would stand, so far Jay wasn’t sure about this guy, but then again he hardly knew him. His hands clasped before him on the desk he remained passive eyed as the man introduced himself as Joseph Viaggiatore, United States grade Marshal Section Five. Jay was glad he didn’t have to spiel off that mouthful every time he introduced himself.
“You’ve been given oversight....” Jay clenched his jaw, “How...Fortunate for you, I am assuming the pencil pushers up stairs have such little faith in my work and the work of my team that they have sent us a baby sitter.”
Jay didn’t look at the paper work, in truth he was a little pissed off. He had been promoted, handed the job and now it seemed he wasn’t as trusted or seen as being as efficient as they had once thought.
“I find it somewhat dubious that Chicago would insist on my transfer over here, giving my record and credentials only to then bring you along. As you may imagine, right now I am thinking my position means jack and shit. I understand you are simply here because you were asked to, but, it doesn’t mean i am happy about it.”

There were two things that Viaggiatore could do immediately. He could respond to the sentiment or he could ignore it. The Lieutenant was right to be pissed it was the expected reaction. Viaggiatore could explain himself and why he had been called here it was sure to unruffle a few of the mans feathers. Unfortunately he wasn't here to unruffle anything. In addition to him not wanting to be standing here there was the fact that the aptly named paper pushers would more than likely make this guys job so much worse if he fought it. That would give Viaggiatore the leave to do what he wished. "I understand completely, how you feel. But feelings have nothing to do with why I'm here. Neither is your sterling career. Lets not piss on each other about what other people may or not think. Whats the sitrep on your cases?"

Jay took a deep breath and picked up the twenty case files he was currently going through, the most active ones on top and passed them across the desk.
“That’s everything, though some are still awaiting crime scene documents, currently i would say the case file i am more busy with is the one with regard to Max Logan.” Jay tapped the top brown file, “I am not a stupid man, I take help when it is offered, I am one of the good guys, i don’t care how or who helps me as long as the bad guys get locked up and sentenced.”

Lifting the file Viaggiatore raised a brow. It was in a brown Ro/Ho file jacket. Must RPIT files were the pea green of the Unsolved/Mysterious death cold cases. He knew that most RPIT offices were inundated with the shit that normally was swept under the carpet or written off as unsolvable prior to its founding. It was sad that for every actual preternatural case that there were three that were well outside the purview of the department. Looking over the basic pertinents Viaggiatore grew increasingly displeased. This guy was a ghost. There were too many loose ends to attribute to just one man. Preternatural or not. There was no way that only one person was responsible. This seemed to be a grudge job of an officer trying to use RPIT to bring to ground the one that got away. If that wasn't the case then this Max Logan was definitely not anything that he had dealt with over his long career. Fixing Jay with an incredulous raised eyebrow," I can see why this would catch your attention. I'm not impugning you but have you verified all of these accounts? All of this mountain of 'evidence' and yet this perp is out there to do as he pleases." Realizingthat his questions might comeof as just that Viaggiatore fixed Jay with an apologetic smile. "I'm sure you have just shooting outideas. Has anybody touched these guys 'Clay' or 'Giovanni' but this Max and Toren have connection to both of these guys."

“this case was only brought to my attention a few days ago and am taking some liberties in allowing a recent transfer to continue working on the case. Of course, i feel, currently the detective in question is emotionally involved in this case, i am keeping an eye on him and if at any point i feel his emotional state hinders the investigation, i will be reassigning it. Current theories in work are that this Max Logan is Fey, though we only have here-say to support that view.” Jay crunched his knuckles as he spoke, rolling his stiff neck.
“And yes, all accounts and statements and witnesses have been verified, at least, as you can see, with the transfer of the case over from RPIT. If you wish to question the other departments it that had been handling the case, by all means, but I am simply viewing this case as new rather than old, looking at it with fresh eyes.”

Viaggiatore let his eyes look over the pertinents of the case once more before speaking. He decided to sit. The lead of the local RPIT had a body dropped on his lap not 100 hundred feet from where he had been corralling his pet monster. That one fact made it very clear that this whatever it was had to be brought down. He had been vaguely aware of the heightened police presence but he had been concentrating on his quarry. This was not a good development. Turning on the good natured brother in blue charm Viaggiatore smiled. "LT I think we need to out of the office and talk about somethings." It was the best he could do under the circumstances. He would feel this Conner out. Gauge the man and his leanings before revealing anything. There were secrets and there were things best left unsaid. He hoped that the natural inquisitiveness of the job would compel Jay to indulge him.

Jay paused, his assault on his own knuckles continuing as he moved to the thumb knuckles and clicked both twice.
"My social calender is lacking of free time, as you can imagine." Jay frowned, maybe he was coming across as hostile, but in truth he was tired, and stressed.
"What are you suggesting? A drink?" Jay shrugged.

"Honestly,I drink sparingly it takes the edge off a bit too much for my liking. But no I was speaking of this moment as in now. There are things I would say that I'd prefer to not do in the hollowed hall police functionality. Not that I doubt your men but I've learned that the only truly secure police station is a closed one." Standing Viaggiatore closed the file. He'd memorized the particulars and they were shaping up something awful. The main thread of the case suggested an involvement with Clay. As he had most recently looked into the man. The odds were stacking precipitously against him. He wouldn't be able to finish in time if things increased anymore against his favor.

"You can close the door, i very much doubt my officers will eves drop." Jay smirked and moved around from his desk closing his usual open office door and instead of returning to his desk leaned against the far wall, casting his eye to Viaggiatore.
"So," He folded his arms across his broad chest and took a deep breath, "What did you want to say?"

Viaggiatore smiled seemed as if this desk jockey had some street scruples left to him. That was a good thing. It was the wrong play. But it was god that he was thinking. Contain, coerce, collar. The three tried and true basics of police work. The hinting that he'd done had gotten the guys nose open. That was good, the bad however he was willing to question here in the office. It wasn't the best of ideas. Call Viaggiatore paranoid which he was but he hadn't vetted out the staff. He knew at least one of them were bent towards the monsters the near constant static in his head told him as much. Closing the door alleviated the intensity so it wasn't the is man. It was one of them. Not knowing which and how powerful capabilities they had he would not divulge any information. Running his hand through his hair he smiled. "You have a lot of faith in your men. Thats a very good thing. I don't. So officially we'll handle this. Lieutenant. Lets go meet the team." Opening the door he motioned for Jay to lead the way...
