Dorian had a pretty good morning, getting his typical two mile jog in, the long hot shower. He stopped as usual on his way in to buy a paper outside the precinct to see what the lies, the media were up to this time. He purposely bumped into Gwen "hey lady look out" as he did on a daily basis. She got that sarcastic smile "you better leave me alone jerk". He smiled back. Dorian liked Gwen she let him know what was going on that wasn't always his business to know which helped him in his cases at times and also helped in his ten year search a bit. "So is the cap in the office", he asked. "Yeah and he actually wants to see you, something about Steven, he's been overworking and the Cap thinks he may need help with something" she said in a rather worried tone with a questioning look on her face. Gwen liked Dorian a bit and she knew that he was a good cop, but she also knew that he went a little farther than he should have. She felt that him doing so would possibly get him in trouble with his superiors or even killed. Dorian smirked "Steven's at it again huh? Well this should be fun", he said in a sarcastic tone. "See ya" he winked at her as he started walking toward his desk to see if there was any mail or new paper work before went to the Captain "hey Steve, what the hell are you, you doing here", he asked his friend next to his desk being rather surprised. Steven looked somewhat tired but he was working hard going through files that Dorian knew nothing about. "I didn't even know you where here, anything new going on" Steven was one of Dorian best buddies on the force. there were many times where singular pursuits of assailant were made by them both, they also worked hard together. As a team Dorian and Steven made at least 5 bust in the supernatural community. Steven looked up from his paperwork with glossy eyes, he nodded his hello to his friend "Well there's surveillance going down in Evanston that I'm trying to see about, but trust me the Captain will tell you to get on my ass about it like he always does." Dorian laughed he knew Steven like to work alone , hell so did he, but when Steven or himself was researching a case this much the Captain felt help was in order "yeah your probably right I was told he wanted to see me, but wonder will it turn into us." " Steven shook his head "I guess we have to find out, oh well, lets go." he said as he stood. Dorian and Steven walked and knocked on the Capitan's door. "Come in ya pansies." he said. The two RPIT cop walked into Captian Cord's office Dorian pointed to Steven "he's the pansie I'm a rose." the Captian gave a dirty look. "Humf more like the manure of the bunch." Let jump right to it Steve you've been working on something rather hard what is it?" Well Cap there a vamp up in evanston that I think maybe running an illegal gaming ring, but the thing is I haven't been able to find any true leads. So I'm trying to find some of his financial records but that's coming to a close as well." he said with a frustrated "OK well you might be able to find more with his help. If you quit jerking off and take a partner in with you there my be more to obtain." He turned a hard eye to Dorian. "I haven't seen you working on anything to hard so I want you with him on this. Now listen, both of you, today is Monday, I want more info on this case by Friday, is that understood?" Dorian and Steven look at each other quickly then to the Captain "Yes sir, they said as they turned and left the office.

Cord settled into his desk as the two detectives left his office. He fingered the black business card over and over again. He hated what his gut was telling him. He hated suspecting one of his detectives of being less than honest. He absolutely hated the idea but it nagged him to no end. Steven was hiding something. He'd been rough around the edges for sometime but this latest series of disappearances was troubling. While there may have been a rogue vampire in Evanston he knew that wasn't the whole truth. He looked at the card again. Normally he'd take his concerns to IA to have them vetted out but Steven would smell them coming from a mile away. Not to mention with IA anything they found out would have to be dealt with officially. Picking up the receiver he dialed the number on the card without looking. He hated what he was preparing to do but he had no choice he'd seen how the badge could twist an otherwise good officer. He would have to stop whatever this was before it got out of hand.
Steven took the eleveator down in silence his mind working on ways to get away from Dorian. He was a good guy and a good Detective he would be able to piece together too much if allowed near the target. Thinking of feasible ways to distract him Steven put on his friendliest smile. "Hey Dorian you know its daytime fangboy won't be doing any travelling. We can cover more ground if we split up." Taking out his notepad he scribbled down an address handing it to Dorian. " You beat the bushes and we'll meet here about noon." The doors to the elevator opened and Steven walked briskly away toward the carpool. he could have pulled rank and ordered Dorian away but that wouldhave definitely raised his antennae. Best to dazzle him with bullshit.

Dorian watched Steven as he walked off the elevator shaking his head. "What the hell are you on Steven? There has to be more to this." He thought. Dorian knew Steven wasn't fully straight with him because one what he said about the vamp. and two he told him to much, which he never did. If he was looking for illegal gaming practice's on the vamp paperwork from bank, accountant's real estate firms hell any business would have been in order and the morning would have been the best time to check that out not noon cause business are crowded then which make the investigation that much harder even if they could get in they didn't have official papers to get the records and business hours are through by five. If they would find accomplices they would like the vamps only come out at night, even if they found them during the day without paperwork to prove the illegal funding all they had to say was, "I don't know anything about that officer". Dorian also like Cord noticed Steven was gone pretty much the whole day without giving a clue as to what he was doing which meant he was working on something he only wanted to share with himself. He wouldn't just come out and tell his whole story about the vamp just cause he was asked about it. If he was alone around vamps that much without even a hint of backup he would've probably been a vamp himself by now or officially dead, so far neither seemed to be the case. Dorian questioned what his state of affairs was, what was Steven was working on. His gut told him there was much more to the story, he was determined to find out what it was, not only because it was his job, mostly because this was a friend who he truly cared for. Dorian rushed to the side entrance of the department hurrying out to get an unmarked squad car. He wanted to move fast enough to keep a least block distant behind him. Driving towards the Miracle mile Dorian caught sight of Steven making a left on Michigan Avenue and followed him onto Lakeshore Drive. The day was pretty nice which Dorian felt was a convenient. He could better observe what was going on; at the same time he worried so could Steven. As Dorian passed Navy Pier he started thinking of one of the bust Steven made with him. There were a group of Elitist Vampires who didn’t respect the new laws that applied to the human and supernatural alike. They felt they were the masters of mankind that humans should be their slaves. They would rent out the IMAX Theater for free entertaining movies, and large rooms with an open bar for an after party. Their guess was people of middle to upper class status, ones who would make the best slaves and bring in the most benefits. Dorian thought about how he got his information off that human vampire lover Kalli. “Well she didn’t love them to much, shit giving up the info for me not taking her in.” he smirked. Dorian was too self involved in that case. He told Steven about what was going on, or what he suspected was going on but he didn’t tell him how he would handle it. “Damn I was lucky as hell. We may have crack the case, took the bastards down, but hell that’s only cause he showed up. If he hadn’t that, that, that fine ass sexy vampires BITCH! Mind trance would have made me dinner. With that shit he had, she was dust in seconds.“ He reminisced while shaking his head with a little smile. “I hope that you don’t have yourself in something like I can get into myself man.” He thought blowing out the pressure he felt in his chest. Arriving in Evanston’s Township was about a half-hour drive it was a smaller place than Chicago with bigger houses. After following him for some time Dorian noticed Steven pull over and take watch on a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style home. The home had a nice side lawn with a red SUV parked in front. After about fifteen minutes a tall Blackman came out of the home and entered the SUV. “So this must be the target Steve’s looking for huh, damn he must be really concentrating on this guy because following him was to easy I might be a block away, but he hasn’t turned his head towards me once and he looks out for everything, what’s up?” Dorian wondered try to figure what was going on in his partners head. The Blackman stop at a market for a little while after putting away his grocery he drove off but this time a bit faster then he was before. Steven wasn’t far behind and Dorian was at this time close to two blocks behind him with binoculars but he felt the tension in the air. Mainly because he saw five rather large guys running for an alley. The Black guy in the SUV sped up fast enough to cut off the entrance of the alley for them. After being blocked they began running for the corner Dorian figured to get in from around the block, but to his shock also shifting into were-tigers. “Shit! Steven what the Hell have you got yourself into. “ To his dismay Steven it seemed without thought got out of his car and rushed the scene. Though he was about a block away he was still entering very dangerous territory. “No you stupid fuck” Dorian shouted. He wanted to drive to the scene but the street there were cars on both sides of the street and that would take to much time. Dorian jump out the squad car rushing the scene himself it felt like his speed double when he heard a called for backup on the radio and several gun shot. Time was moving to slow for him, he felt a tremor when a large concentrated bolt of lighting came from the sky. A new assailant arrived on the scene a new Blackman “Is this fucker one too?” Dorian mind rush with fear and uncertainty for his friend. He was frightened he wouldn’t make it fast enough to his partner when he heard the multiple gunshot, the ferocious roars and growls of the lycanthropes coming form so far away from that alley (though he was less that 40ft) . There was a loud explosion and Dorian saw over the rooftops a large wall of fire “STEVEN” Dorian screamed. Suddenly a Whiteman with the owner of the SUV and the new Blackman came out of the alley rushing into the SUV. Pulling off at top speed. Dorian did a mental check on the license plate as he rushed top to the alleys entrance with his .45 automatic in hand. As he entered Dorian saw five rather large Khan rushing Steven one leaping at him in midair. He saw Steven put a bullet thought the leapers eye which also put the leaper down. Though the other four took him down as he shot wildly hitting who he could. Dorian didn’t wait with out restraint or remorse he unleashed every single bullet in his clip hitting all four multiple times over and over the bullet ripped through their fur as blood splashed on the walls they fell but they rose again and Dorian kept shooting after a moment the pain was to great for them as they grab their pack mates and fled the scene. His hands were burning he was shooting so much that three of his clips were empty. Dorian slid tiredly down the wall sitting next to his friend. Steven was out, wounded on the ground. Dorian checked his pulse as he heard police sirens rushing to the scene. “What the hell Steven…. Man what the fuck have you gotten into?.......

Hanging up the phone as the answering machine picked up Cord cursed under his breath. An idea hit him amybe he could keep this in house after all. He picked up the phone again calling Blackstone. The guy was a bit out there on the edge buthe was a sraight shooter. Maybe he could get Blackstone to quietly sit on Crusinski to find out what game he was playing at. if Blackstone wasn't already tainted that was. Allowing the phone to ring Cord waited on Blackstones answer...

Dorian was wondering what was going on with Steven. He knew that he drug him into some deep situations before but this one was quite different. There were Lycanthrope from different tribes in the middle of daylight and he suspected also some kind of mage or one from the land of the faeries how else could the lighting came about without the rain. He was hoping that Steve had some answers for him, Hell he knew were one of the Lycanthropes lived so either Steve would work with him or he'd take a look in the valley by himself. As he was thing of this Dorian's phone rang. "Shit the cap. Wonder how much he knows" he thought. "Yeah Cap?"

"Blacktstone. where are you and Crusinski? What the hell is going on and most importantly how bad is it?" Cord had listened to the request for backup. He'd heard that they were downtown. The opicture was shaping up horrendously. It appeared that both of his top officers were comprimised. It placed him in a precarious situation. He was again locked into a decision he didn't want to make. His unit was perched precariously near a line the higher ups would rather pretend didn't exist. One of the ways they'd rather shovwe their heads in the sand was to dismantle RPIT and shunt the responsibility to the Feds. This incident would just give them what the excuse that they needed. Instead of seeing it as a need for increased funding and staffing they'd use it as a justification to steamroll the entire taskforce. " You know what don't tell me get cleaned up and get to my office as quickly as possible." Ending his call Cord removed the tie he kept in his desk and the blazer off of his coat rack. He hated calling in favors but some time the only way to dodge a bullet was to sacrifice a limb. He hated doing this but he had to get out in front off the deluge before it drowned him and his unit...

Cord hated having to get out in front of this thing in such a manner but the truth was that it was unavoidable. Crusinski would have to be putonleave and depending on how Blackstone played ball he might be as well. It was a bad play butthe best he had available. Crusinski had been a very capable officer but this stunt whatever its goal stunk to high heaven. Cord would tryto keep the manfrom losinghis badgebut he wasn't sure he had enough favors to call in and dirt to hold over the right peoples heads. Either way Crusinski would have to be buried for awhile. Cord knew the man would hate taking the brunt of the fallout but there simply was no way. Sometimes as the pointof the spear you had to be broken to be made sharper.
Cord set through the initial inquiry gracefully shunting blame and dodging landmines. He wenton rcord statingthat Crusinski was a commendable officer and first rate detective. He spouted his reliance on the two officers and even managed to attack the departments financial policy in regards to RPIT. All in all it was a great inquiry in regards to covering whatever was Crusinski's real goal and aim. It would hold just long enough for IA to get in contact with him.
So with that in mind Cord used the payphone in the Thompson center to Call Blackstone and have him meet at the Hospital. Cord was juggling as fast as he could and he we was suere that he'd eventually drop a ball. He hoped it'd bounce and not break but he couldn't be sure. So he drove like a man possessed rushing to the hospital. Blackstone had allowed Crusinski to ride alone and god-knew that it wasn't above IA's moral compass to question Crusinski at the hospital. How could the man have such a lapse in frikking judgement.
Cord had felt that today was one of those days he just didn't know how badly he'd want to kill his own officers. These mistakes were not something the unit could afford. They were both well aware as to the precarious nature of RPIT especially seeing as they hadn'thad a truly major case in quite sometime. Cord eased off the accelerator forcing himself to breathe. As soon as he made sure that Crusinski wouldn'tdie fromhis injurys he'd tear the man a airhole...
