If Rini was experiencing anything similar to him he knew she was going absolutely back of beyond insane. As such he knew while it was bad form to crash the party there had to be a way to connect. Using the time in the elevator he sent her a text.
“We are in this together. Your smarts my stubborn pigheadedness. “ He accompanied the text with a ic of him and Selene.

When he had come into the building she had felt him and gotten giddy, a tiny part of her hoped he would break the rule4s and come anyway but he had promised. As such, she knew his word would be kept barring disaster. The phone playing what she had recorded as their synced heartbeats on a whim one night as the message tone pulled an unladylike squeal from her that made those already in turn and look. She grinned and looked. Making a definite AWW face and feeling her nerves calm a bit " till the horsemen ride and the end of days yes we are"
Sending him one back with the biggest grin standing near a table piled with cakes

As his phone vibrated to life just as he made it to his car so did his face brighten. She brought a smile to his face. The vibe pattern for her was Morse code. Short long short short long long long short short short long short. He waited to the final short before swiping open his screen. In this day and age with information so readily available he was often surprised how often the older ways of thought and communication went unnoticed.
Reading her reply he could tell she’d taken a very small step back from the edge. So his reply was simple and one that was easy to mistake if she was with someone who might glimpse her screen. ‘Good then breathe for me.’ He replied a smirk firmly in place. It was a coded phrase for them. Every excess emotionally and physically between them was prefaced with catching their breath.
Most delving into their pasts her very happy memories and not and his memories that more than often drudged up the ghost of his grandfather or abandonments began with taking steadying breaths together.
Once she promised when he couldn’t swallow past the pain that she would in fact breathe for him. He reminded her of that moment letting her know that when she couldn’t he would in fact breathe for her. Sliding into the car he push started it and sat a few seconds gathering his thoughts for what was to come next.
