Hiero sat silently thrumming his fingers on the varnished and lacquered cherry wood table. Its thick sturdy support taking an imaginary beating as he envisioned slamming his hand through the table. While he restrained himself the thought was so tempting that he ceased his motion for fear of letting too much of his true self shine or crash through as the case may've been.
The bean counter was droning on seemingly with no end in sight. Hiero cleared his throat attracting the full weight and gaze of the gathered associates, Board members the entire lot of them. Under normal circumstances he allowed them their way so long as it cost no one their job or danced too closely to nefariousness. In this matter however he would not relent. They each and nearly everyone were urging for a flight a mass exodus from any and all of the businesses they sponsored here in the Chicagoland area.
He would not do so. Here was home by god and here was where he would stay. It might cost more than they would like but He knew what they did not care to remember. Chicago was a survivor. It was a city that had been decimated but physically and emotionally multiple times. Hell the very land that they now sat above was a man-made creation. A show of force by the city against the very firmament. Chicago was a place where only the strong could survive and only the strongest thrived for long.
No he wouldn't do it. He would not turn tail and run to supposedly greener pastures.Call it arrogance or bullheadedness but he and his company was staying. They would just have to sick it up or sell their shares. "Thank you gentleman one and all." He began catching the eye of each attendee. Clearing his throat and rising to his feet he went on.
"I could stand here and speak extemporaneously. But I won't waste your time or mine. This is not happening. We are not moving, Good day."
Turning on his heels he was out of the conference room and to the elevator before the any of the other members registered what he'd said. They heard him yet couldn't believe that he'd done so. This was no time to flee. This was a time to dig-in. That was what he would do. After all if you couldn't fight for your home it obviously wasn't ones home.

As Milik wandered the downtown streets of the new city seeing its massive buildings he was awed, but at the same time confused. He wondered what kind of life could he bring for himself but most of all for Uhuru here in Chicago. He knew how to get in touch with his family, but he also knew that he couldn't for this was a journey that he had to make on his own. Coming from the suburb of Dalton on the Metra train he knew that if he wanted to find clients this was the best place, If he wanted to find out more about the city this was the best place, and if he wanted to find out about his clan without to much trouble this was probably the best place. As he past the little girl with the long black hair Uhuru entered his thoughts. The daycare he left her at seemed to be a real one. The workers smelled honest when he asked about their services. He smiled as he looked to the people walking towards him passing them his business card. He knew is daughter was always on his mind, but right now getting them out of the motel they were staying had to be his priority. Malik was still amazed at the number of people coming and going around him. The multiple scents, all the noise though somewhat annoying it was something he would have to get use to. As he walked towards a large stone building he saw a man sitting outside asking for change. Malik thinking of his past out of kindness began to pull out a dollar for the man when a distinct scent hit him. It was a familiar scent, not one of his clan, but one of a lycanthrope. Malik gave the homeless man the dollar and hurried to where the scent was coming from. perhaps he could make a friend or associate whom could tell him more of this city, but if wasn't one of the helping nature he would apologize and leave them be. He didn't want or need trouble that's why he made sure to be in a very public place.

Kasha stood off to the side of the entrance as she waited to see her mate walk out the door. She wanted to shock Hiero since she been so busy with the Dojo and running the new self defense class that she hasn't seen him lately. Its been work , home, sleep and if she had time to eat; the whole not being around Hiero was making her moods worst and Ro got to deal with it. Hell with any luck he would have lunch with her and maybe if she was lucky she could get a afternoon delight before they had part to part their ways.
A small blush started to creep in her cheeks as she thought of his body on hers, their flesh becoming one. She took a deep breath and caught a smell of another like them but it differed, slowly she started to look around her guard up. Smiling the whole time like nothing was wrong as she bit her inside cheek as she looked waiting to see what was going to happe n but she would be ready.

Hiero stepped out of the office and kept right on to the elevator. He kept right on out of the building. This was a day he would have loved to have spent in the sanctuary with the lions. It was unseasonably warm for Chicago this time of year. Or maybe it was just that he would have much rather had not gone into the office today. Sadly he didn't know how to run from any fight even one of words.
No sooner had he thought of fight than the scent of Streak hit his nostrils. Even as the Pride and the Streak were allies officially his time on the road had the hairs at the nape of his neck stand on edge. His lion sniffed the air rising onto its great paws peering out of his eyes searching for the enemy. Hiero the man knew that the man wasn't an enemy but some habits died hard and usually for good reason. He stopped in his tracks scanning the street catching sight of the Streak. He wasn't anything he'd expected.
Chiding himself for judging a book by its cover he knew just knew that the Streak member was not one of Hong's cats. No he was definitely a new import. Scenting the air with power Hiero held his ground watching the man move about his day. He was taking in the buildings and the area in general as if he were in fact a tourist. The fact that he was alone and meandering said a load of things Hiero wasn't willing to pry but as Hong was an ally he had to do his best to steer the man in the right direction.
Hopefully by doing so that would keep the bloodshed to a minimum. So focused was he on the Streaks movement he nearly missed the scent of home until she was right up on him. Kasha was nearby. He whirled like a man struck by lightening his face brightening instantaneously. The streak member nearly forgotten.
"Kitty!?!" He sang out his roar of a voice purring past his lips.

As Malik move closer towards his destination he paused, he finally caught site of the pride. She was beautiful and in great shape but hell what lycanthrope wasn't. He looked at the ground as thoughts of Hazel came into his mind. His eyes dimmed for a moment. Then realization of reality came back into his mind, and another thought came if he could smell her she could surely smell him. Malik had to find a way to ensure her he wasn't an enemy.
Though Malik was a brave man he didn't like to fight if it wasn't necessary. Thats way he chose downtown as his starting point. "Well here goes" he whispered to himself. He began to walk closer with a wide smile holding aout a business card until something else caught his nose. A rather strong presence which caused Malik to slow down. A handsome black pride with dreadlocks like his own walked out of the building looking at him. Though he didn't look like he was against Malik, he didn't look like he was exactly for him either.
Malik wondered was this a mistake both of the prides looked rather powerful, but then a thought came "am I an idiot if they wanted to kill me they would have tried already, but lets take this slow". Malik with his confidence up held out a business card and walk toward the two perhaps they could be of help, and if not at least he knew two to the faces in this large city.
When he arrived five feet away. Malik said with great respect "Good day I am Malik Johnson I was hoping to get to know better of your fair city and perhaps yourselves" as he handed out his business card

Kasha moved to him as if he was the flame and she the mouth, her eyes brighten and without thinking she wrapped her arms around his neck and brought his lips to hers. Smiling as she pulled away from her love and licked her lips. Mouthing I missed you as she caught sight of the other lyican and moved Hiero behind her, taking her job as Specto the way she should. The light in her eyes was still there as she sized the man in front of her up.
"Hello I am Rakasha but everyone knows me as Kasha and this city is nice here is it not?" She said as she took the card from Malik and handed one of her own to him. "I would not mind to get to know you since you seem like you would like to share our city."
Her body was relaxed but it would be ready to defend if she had to with out a moment thought of it. She held her other hand out to him to shake his hand in a friendly jester

Hiero raised a brow as other portions of his person rose to the occasion. A smile of true everlasting happiness sitting on the curve of his lips. He wrapped her in his arms quickly squeezing as he knew their time for true affection was short. He felt the Tiger drawing closer. Mouthing 'And I you' he allowed her to do what her title demanded. A small show of force wouldn't hurt. As she did so he rested a hand on her shoulder moving to her side giving them both clear lines of sight. Just in case. If things went south this wouldn't be the first time that the Streak had struck in broad daylight.
He hoped that this new one would not travel the same road of folly as Hong's psychopathic child. He couldn't sense any malice from the man before them but as they say better safe than bleeding. Smiling across to the streak member Hiero nodded a further greeting trusting Kasha to know what was the play here.
"Well Malik, this is a bit of an exposed area to talk at leisure but we were off to find a bite what say you follow along?" He knew that the permanent roar in his voice wouldn't go unnoticed nor would the fact that they were offering peace... for now, should he accept. Most roadbound were far more leery than Malik was being so he hoped that the man wasn't possessed of the paranoid spirit that came from being a rogue. If he was this whole thing could escalate faster than a kerosene soaked nitro laced silk hanky.
While they stood Hiero took an immediate measure of the man his stance was low and easy. Even as he kept his distance he was watching them for any sign of aggression. He stayed on the balls of his feet neither fight nor flight but a preparation for both. There was an air about him of battle but no aggression. Hiero guessed military of some stripe more likely mercenary. He kept himself from sizing the man up much more than that as if he was skittish too much obvious attention would either light his fuse or send him screaming into the afternoon sun.
Neither would be all that well for the man as even as Hong was their Ally the Local streak's Chang was not none for her kindness. A shiver running up his back as he considered the Streak she'd left stuck as a tiger at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
"Well what say you two; Lunch?"

Malik backed a bit as he watched the two kiss, the kiss was affectionate to the point were he felt they were reuniting. It made him fill good to see that at least they had feelings because they showed love for one another. When the woman turned towards him she did something familiar. She took a stance of protection for the man like he would have taken for his queen "mother" he thought. His conscience was brought back as he felt his card being taken. Noticing She was also handing one to him and extending her hand for a shake. Malik took the card with gratitude, after she gave him her introductions he responded "It is good to meet you Rakasha" he said as he accepted her hand in the gentleman fashion he was taught, but not enough to offend her or her partner. He felt good that so far there was not much tension, he knew she was just doing her job.
Malik realized for her to protect the man like that he must be of high rank in their clan. Malik could feel their strength, from his life of having to play the warrior, he was able to detect it, especially when the pride spoke. The voice of the pride let him think he probably been through much, So when the man invited him to for lunch it made him happy that at least he wasn't one to jump immediately for the kill. At the same time Malik knew without him knowing anything of these two he had to be on his p's and q's.
He looked at them both with humility "I thank you for the offer I would be honored". Malik extended his hand to the man before him "again I am Malik and what shall I call you sir" he said with a smile

A blush moved across her face as she frowned a little it wasn't directed to any one it just one from her watching her hope fly away. That afternoon delight was not going to happen with how things were going. Taking a breath she smiled again as she looked at both men and nodded. "The idea of lunch would be great KOTJ...I am very hungry." She said the last word with a pull as she winked at him.
Her dress wrapped around her legs when a gust of wind moved by them as she smiled. Grabbing the side of her dress and pulled the black silk from her stalking clad legs as she giggled a bit. She wore a gaurder belt with matching everything for the hope of surprising Hiero but next time. Licking her lips as she took a breath; slowly tapping her leather booted foot on the sidewalk. Kasha was always moving if she could it was just who she was.
Looking at Malik with a slight smile on her face as she wrinkled her nose with it; taking a step back as her back touched Hieros chest. Even when she worked her title she still made ways to touch him in a intimate way to let her mate know she was there. The love she felt for him showed in her eyes even though they were harden as she worked but the affection was easily seen between the two. safe.
"But I want somthing that gives a lot of food and tons of meat. Humm...where could we go I want to stay far away from sushi and things in that Nature....Malik do you have a preference? Also Hiero I am buying this time and I have an idea of what you can do to pay me back" She said with a sly sound in her voice towards the Rex as she teased him a bit, he was always paying for everything. This was playful teasing that she always did with him, if she stopped Kasha would swear he would wonder what was wrong.

Hiero watched as disappointment slid across Kasha's face. It was there only for the briefest of moments and most would not notice its passing. But to him her most minute shift of emotions was a full length film in IMAX. Swallowing the childish annoyance that leapt to his throat at the tiger to whom he leveled the responsibility, Hiero smiled despite himself. He loved Kasha and hoped she knew how much. Sadly one of the many duties of his position was doing what was right for the Pride as well as their allies. Ifhe left Malik to roam of his own devises there was a chance that things could turn very bad. Especially as his and Kasha's scents were he sure all over the man. They could of course deny that they'd done anything more than direct him to the Streak compound. Sadly Hong was no fool. She was a sociopath but no fool. "I think I may have just the place, Kitty. Carson's isn't far and it'd give us all time to talk." He said considering Malik's words and intonations. His accent was slight but there. Seemed as if Malik came from a very long way indeed.
Before he had a chance to go on his attention was snatched by an errant breeze. He caught a glimpse of silk and his breath caught. Hong had better make this up somehow. Shaking his head as he slipped on his sunglasses. He paused just long enough to shift himself so as not to accidentally inflict blunt force trauma on Kasha's back. She aroused him with the merest pf touches that combined with her devilish streak made sure that he would never have the full eight pints circulating through his system, at one time.
Focusing on the business at hand instead of what he much rather have in hand Hiero spoke," Well Malik My name is Hieronymous but must folks just call me Hiero, I'm the Rex of the Cibolla Campo Pride." It was fairly straight-forward but that Hiero to a tee. As little dissemination as possible, and as much finesse as a tap dancing Rhino in a china shop. It was a relatively low risk gambit as far as things went. He was in the mood to be done with introductions as quickly as possible so that he could focus his energies on the love of his life.
