She smiled.
"Then to work we shall get. I prefer being called Esme then Alexius but I will respond to either."
She moved through more of the plants touching them here and there causing new tendrils to shoot leaves to grow and blossums to burst. She was already covered in dirt and scraps of other plants. The plants here in the green house seemed to reach out to her as much as she reached for them.
A behavoir that was unique. Were she not human and ailing at that in another time she would have been the inspiration for myths.
But there was no room for them in this modern world of humans they denied even themselves. She sighed softly breathing more of her talent into the plants around her.
"Anything you choose to assist me with today be it the simple tasks of harvesting or that of just spending time in here for a few hours that will be sufficent in trade."

"Agreed, Esme it is," Temous said sparing an actual smile. "If we might speak as we work it would be an unparalleled pleasure. Firstly what needs doing, let us start there. Secondly, why are as you are. I taste the green about you the growing things yet you have neither bartered, bought nor borrowed anything that might alleviate your ills. I am sorry if I am forward it is merely that I have heard that the best course when dealing with you is as straight as a broadsword. For the record I am Tempus, Leechfinger, The untouched one First Knight of the Kings Unkindness, of house Al Zum, of the shining court; Known on these distant shores as Vrijeme Gange Zlotvor, But if you choose to call me any I would prefer Tempus or," Tempus caught himself far too late to go unnoticed but he had almost given away a cherished term of endearment. Esme was a curious mortal indeed to stir such a reaction in him. The rumors in the market were true as only understatements could be. "Whatever you wish, so long as you do so in friendship." He continued as he cast his gaze about the greenery as it moved and parted for her.

She began to harvest the mercy blossums and the frost flowers that she was working with having replenished the vines before she harvested them they were pruned after growing so that the original plant never was harmed.
She smiled at his forthright behavior. Yes it was the best way to deal with her upfront and no disguises in action and word.
"Let us stick to the simple harvesting for now. The smaller plants that are more popular the mercy blossums and frost flowers, as well as those closer to the entrance. I have them planted by seasons the closer towards the paths the more harmless they are the most dangerous are to the backs of their seasons."
She considered carefully how to respond to him.
"I have taken mercy blossums for a very long time now. But i sometimes have to take a break from them other wise it takes more and more to stave off the illness that ails me Tempus. But as to why I wont barter for a cure or something else more permenent. that is because I have no desire to. There was a plan put into place for me and though some of the things that will happen will be very difficult trials I live my life as i am content knowing that I will die eventually but I am not to much the young blossum to be frightened of the frost I have grown and know how to weather out many situations and in my illness I find strength but very few companions actually see my life for what it is. They think of me as I was or pity me for the mortality i suffer knowing i will face my death sooner then they and they fear me because they see me as weakness that will eventually come to them."
the basket in her lap was filled with the blossums she was working with.
"what brought you to the mortal world Tempus?"

" I was called by a mad mans worship of the old ways and gods. I attempted to stop him well I and my brother. Now we merely seem to be the harbingers of his eventual supremacy. Each City that falls to him is another stain on my honor." Tempus shook his head clearing it of images of North Dakota. " The worse thing is that I thought here there might be the strength of arm to lay his conquest to rest. I was wrong. My brother was right as he usually is." Smiling he looked to Esme watching her work as his hands followed the shadow of hers doing as she did as if they were linked by invisible bands. "Onto other news, I believe it is my question. What do you think a police woman would expect on a first meals outing?" Tempus had several ideas but he hoped the change in subject would not have Esme pry to deeply at the bane of existence. Or worse yet the why of it.

As Esme worked she moved as though she was focused even for the conversation she sounded as thought she was paying attention but her voice had a quality that listed her in an area of her mind where there was a great deal more of concentration but it didn't stop her from working and talking with him so she likely wouldn't catch the little signs at first though they were there and registered her mind wouldn't catch up for a few minutes.
"Well that soully depends on what kind of girl she is out of uniform. In uniform did she seem to care about her dress did she wear make up? Did she take any pride in herself how did she talk frank and blunt? sugarcoats things with the good news and hammers you with the bad? these are things that tell you what kind of person and woman she is how she thinks and the like. did she wear nice shoes more then 20 bucks or did she wear something from wally world no frills kind of thing only does whats nessecary. A girl who likes nice shoes tends to like nice places. a no frills kind of girl woul dbe happy with a average nice place but nothing fancy shes m ore into the serious tone of things. However since she is a cop. she likely doesnt go out very often so pick a place that serves food and has dancing as an option. or if she doesnt dance look towards a dinner theater or something. something where she would be less likely to run into work."
She paused as it finally clicked. "huh...from what i understand you two have been around for a rather long time. if anything was a bane for you i would say it was time itself. from my understanding you and your brother are essentially alone. Why would this one person cause so much trouble and you know only from failure can you learn. By learning from how you failed against him the last time should give you the oppertunity to take a different approach from a very different avenue. "

Esme would not be detoured she was as persistent as the hunt itself. Chuckling softly to himself Tempus allowed the fact that she responded to his thoughts slide. It wasn't the first time that a mortal had intuited him. It was ever his pleasure watching the diversity of their genetic stock produce anomalies such as Esme. If she had been a member of the blood she would have illicited a different response in him. "That is the question indeed isn't it. That is the reason that we are both here. To do ourselves one better than previously. AS for the ladies shoes they were well worn servicable yet show worthy enough to mask their utilitarian nature. She seemed to care no whit for the penny pretties of poetic conversation. How would you approach such a situation?"
