Rio nodded solemnly to his words, "I understand, there are always such really. No matter what city you reside in or who you are oathed to." She hadn't expected anythign less, there had been secrets she kept when she was with her former master and those that she would continue to keep from her Sire. It was their way, they were a secretive society after all.
He had piqued her interest however, had her wondering just what secrets there were to keep, "I have no question that I can bring to mind at the moment Andrius but thank you for asking. I'm sure everything will be satisfactory." She brushed at an invisible speck of lint upon her dress, purposely making the move so that she could look at him through her periphial vision. He was a striking man, she wondered what kind of bed partner he would make, even though she had lately only interacted with women she had and probably would again enjoy the touch af a man.

Emotions or more specifically shifting emotions were Andrius bread and butter. He thrived all these many years off nothing but his strength growing through the exposure to the most subtle almost imperceptible shifts. He smiled not bothering to delve into Rio's mind. It would be a trespass most unnecessary.
A small shift of his steps as they made their way through the slowly crowding club brought them closer. It allowed the fabric of their clothing to brush against one another. This and nothing more. It was the smallest of flirtations but it would suffice. His secondary manner of sustaining sustenance was the most apparent reason for his and Sorcha's pairing. The other reasons he would not give himself leave to dwell on. He was no prattling lovestruck mortal. He would bow to nothing.
Even as his heart stirred with the unthought emotions his head warred and won. Sorcha was his consort and he hers. It was solely as they were the most closely equal. Her form was pleasing her mind appealing. No he was not laid low by ephemeral urges that'd weaken him. No not at all.
Moving into the office he cleared his throat announcing their presence. It was unnecessary but image was paramount if things were to proceed as he'd planned. "Katrina, I present Rionach. As expected. Things are prepared..." Taking a measured step back Andrius watched the interplay between the women evaluating every nuance...

Rio felt the brush of fabric, how could she not, after all her own body was covered in a thin layer of silk. She also knew what it meant, a small flirtation, of no consequence. It was often done among their kind, so she wasn't concerned nor was she overly emotional about it. She had her plan already mapped out before her, she knew what she wanted and how to go about getting it. Nothing would change her mind on that front, not even a completely gorgeous man like the one that escorted her to meet the Master of the City.
Alice was the perfect compliment to her, light to dark. Alice through the Looking Glass and the darkness the other side. Nothing would deter her from the current course she was on. She had held her heart aloof from many over the centuries, one small human female had found the chink in her armor when Rio wasn't looking. It wouldn't happen again, her head ruled her not her heart, at least where it concerned anyone other than Alice.
Rio stood quietly during the introduction and waited for the Master of the City to acknowledge her. She knew the protocol, she knew the rules and she had always obeyed them to the letter. there was no reason to do any less now. She did however give a small bow in deference and respect.

Andrius kept from laughing at the thickening of Rios grasp on her emotions. Her resolve was to be commended. He understood what it was to have a singular goal. An all consuming passion. He had sacrificed much in his first bid for his. He had plenty of time to correct his errors and realign himself. He wondered what Rio would lose in her race to her goal.
Andrius nodded to Katrina. They had worked out their choreography for the next steps. There was no need for further belaboring what needed to be done. Andrius would be examining Katrinas poise. She would be he face of things to come and it was important that she was immaculate. Andrius would watch for the least weakness. For his plans to reach fruition she would have to appear and eventually become unassailable...

She knew that Andrius was thinking her a fool, but she had lived a long time and met and changed some of her goals over that time period. Some she had given up altogether, but those were in the years when she was young and dependent upon a master to sustain her. Shew as now a master herself, had been for quite some time, she did as she pleased most of that time only following direct orders when it was totally necessary.
Rio felt as if there were something going on behind the scenes, as if she were the star performer in a very elaborate play, and she didn't like it not one bit. She was no foll and she wouldn't be thought of as such or treated that way. There was something brewing under the surface, but she kept her silence, kept her thoughts to herself. For the moment.

Katrina didn’t need to hear them she could almost feel Andy as he moved down the hall escorting the female on his arm. Rionach. Yes that was her name. She was following after a human. Katrina liked information it was her bread and butter after all. Just as blood was her sustenance.
She was still signing papers even as the walked in she had found several loop holes and her lawyers had exploited them to the fullest extent of its possibilities. She smiled when she heard Andy clear his throat she held a finger up for a moment as she finished some of the paper work. One always needed to know what her holdings were down to every detail.
Finally she sat back in her chair. Green eyes glittering and she was flush from her earlier feeding. The entire office had been redone to suit her since Sion’s vacancy. It seemed to hold her but it was very much in a style from 80 years ago, but modernized.
Katrina didn’t stand and she didn’t toy with anything as she laid her pen to rest on the table. Her nails had been painted. They were naturally long and for those who could tell the difference they were not fake. Their color was a rich plum. Which was mirrored in a taffeta and silk corset that came up over her bust and held everything in place. She sat straight in her chair. As the glittering green eyes roved over Rionach’s form. She did not stand to greet her there was no show of weakness or that she was intimidated by the older vampire. She inclined her head politely in acknowledgement of the bow.
Her thoughts were sound behind a mental barrier of sound the ocean as she had heard it as a little girl. She drew a smile into place. To lips that had been painted but they had been expertly done. “We have been expecting you Rionach. Now I would here your petition for staying here in Chicago.”
Katrina carefully rested her hands on the arms of her chair. Her hair was drawn back by a series of braids and the allowed to fall straight behind her. Were she to stand. One would notice a black pencil skirt that encased her to her upper claves and a pair of black heels with a peep toe and closed heel.
She sat patiently waiting for Rionach’s explanation of why she wishes to be here.

Rio's violet eyes did not waver from the woman's face, her own thoughts encased within ice. She waited patiently while the Master of the City finished with her paperwork. Knowing full well that although it was something that would need to be done it was not pressing, essentially it was a stalling tactic to make Rio wait for her attention. Rio was no fool, she knew the way of things.
When the woman finally raised her face and addressed Rio, Rio couldn't help but know instinctively that this woman was young. Not just in appearance but in actual age as a vampire. It was not unheard of that one of their kind reach Master status before they were more than a hundred years old, but it was unusual.
"You know very well why I am in the city, there is no need for me to elaborate further. Suffice it to say that I am here to collect my soon to be human servant, and furthermore to give my blood oath to the Master of the City. If there is anything else that needs be said well then you might as well come right out and ask what it is you wish of me."
She wasn't playing games, and she wouldn't be played for a fool. If this woman thought to do so she would be sorely surprised. Rio gave her allegiance when it was due but she wouldn't be treated as a lowling. She was a master in her own right and wouldn't petition anyone for the right to what she believed to be hers. She would not be disrespectful but she would not dance like a marionette upon the end of a string.

Andrius raised an eyebrow at Rios statements. He was prone to vaingloriousness so he would normally not ignore the vein of rebelliousness. He knew that Rio could taste the flavor of Katrina's age and wondered was that what lent her her steel. It was a moot point as he wanted strong minded vampires within the kiss. Obversely if Rios steel was was too strong she would ever yield to the will of the kiss and that would not be tolerated. The situation was not untenable yet, he'd keep himself reigned in until absolutely necessary. The play here was entirely Katrina's. He watched intently weighing every minute action and statement...

Katrina remained seated even under the blatant insult from the other woman. She listed to the woman’s diatribe and still her smile remained in place and her eyes glittered. “Yes I know perfectly well what you want Rionach.”
Katrina’s voice took on that brushed silk quality as it slid over flesh. Something that was entirely natural for her voice that she had to actually work to keep out of it. For now however she dropped the pretense of masking it. She needed to tred very carefully Rionach knew her age and that she was young. Now it would simply be a case of if Rionach would try to unseat her. A battle of wills. One that Katrina would not give up.
“Now Alice is something of my concern. She is a mortal within the domain of Chicago. Thus she has my protection from outsiders. What I am concerned about what I do need to hear is if all your planning is picking up your would be human servant and making you way out of town. Before anything else is done I would hear your plans for being here in Chicago. Aside from Alice.”
Her eyes continued to glitter and the smile remained in place. “These papers on my desk do pertain to you. I am wanting someone to manage some of my newer acquisitions. Which is precisely what all of these papers are for. What I am wanting to know is if you plan to spend your every moment with Alice or if you plan to do something here. If it’s the later. I would know if you have already set something up. Or if it is really your intention to simply stay long enough to make Alice yours and spirit her away from the city.”
Katrina opted to be frank. She was skilled in playing the games the politics of kissing ass but she knew she hadn’t had enough time to be able to master every enviable move to be able to succeed against Rionach.

Rio chose her words carefully, there was opportunity here and she was not such a fool as to disregard it. She could just claim her prize and spirit her off but what would be the good in that? She would have to find a new city to inhabit, and this time without an introduction from a former Master. That would be more than difficult, especially if she then had human servant in tow.
A slight tilt of the head before answering, a studied move, as she mulled over her response to Katrina. "I plan to stay of course, as long as I am not denied what I came for I see no reason to leave, but if I am denied what I came to collect I shall not be easily dealt with, that is neither here however. As I said I intend to settle here and make my place among the kiss, I have no need to go elsewhere."
Her eyes were a practice in sincerity, none of her movements could be construed as threatening. She was on her best behavior for the moment. She saw no reason to look a gift horse in the mouth, to gain her own standing among the city was too an opportunity to pass up. More than she had hope for in fact, she was a shrewd woman, she had not lived this long without gaining some measure of a sense for business.
