Tak saw the reporter Sikorski broad trying to get his attention. At the same time Tak received a text that Sabin was here. An officer walked up to Tak and stated that a someone was here for him. Tak told the officer to bring him to this spot and have him wait. Tak noticed that Chance was still taking in the scene, gathering mental information to make his next move. Tak told chance he would be right back and walked over to Ms. Sikorski.
"I had to come over before you broke your heels trying to get my attention. Ms. Sikorski I will give you and exclusive off the record story that you can run. You will owe me big time. Now do me a favor and get lost. I'll call you in 30 minutes so you can run the exclusive."
Tak walked back to the spot and saw Sabin. "I'm glad you could make it. I need your talents to tell me about any scents that you might know of." Tak stated this in Sabins ear so that no one else could here what was being said. Tak turned back to Chance to see his reaction. "He's here to help me, I'll explain later"

"sure tak... so far i can taste you... i need you to give me some space. but who was killed. so i can eliminate the extra scents. lot of gun oil. give a few minutes to walk the perimeter."
sabin started to walk in large concentric circles taken in some scents and elimanating the rest. the whole experince harken back to his days as a early snake. his primary job besides the nest doctor was second assassin. tracking and hunting was one of his taught skill sets, second only to the art of the ambush. he excelled at the hunting and tracking, the ambush was something that he was weaker in, however the potency of his venom more than made up for his lack of surprise. of coruse that is not to say that sabin could not ambush he just knew a few other snakes that he could learn from.
so many humans, he wandered by a female that reeked of hiero. that was not any of his business. so sabin looked her over and took note and kept moving. he tasted that strange reptilian scent again. it was tak and yet not. max... the scent was faint but there also toren was here. he had to rip the scene apart. he walked to the burning building. max was here. he walked to the back of the house max was there. the front has sprinkles of toren but the power of max beat against sabin's skin like a torrent of rain.
he also tasted the power of tak, but coating the area was all max. tak could know who max was and be helping him. anyone could, but the information that sabin tak would really need to pay for. he began looking for tak to see what could be barter for.
he walked to the woman who smelled of heiro and her partner
"have you seen tak?"

Chance wasn’t happy. He couldn’t lay hands on the scene, so to speak, until the firemen were done, and he disliked severely that Tak was talking to the press. That sort of thing would have to stop. It was bad enough that this looked like cop killing without the press spreading it all on page one.
He didn’t know Sabin, either and he disliked civilians inside a police barrier. “Tak’s on his way over. Who are you and who let you thorough? My name’s Mayhew and this is Wolfbaen.” He shot Rayvan a look. Did she know this guy? Chance’s distrust of Tak just got ratcheted up a notch.

Rayvan didn't like this not one bit. It stunk to high heaven and the smell was not pleasant in any way shape or form. She did something then that she rarely ever did, with a small glance at Chance she opened her shields completely and started randomly scanning the minds of the people around them.
The reporter was trying to be slick and Rayvan poked about in her head a bit. Finding that she had been getting information for some time by playing on her connection to the police department. Rayvan would see what she could do to remedy that fact in the near future.
She scanned Tak but got nothing really except a slimy feeling in her head. She had told Cord he was slimy and that just proved it. She scanned across Sabin's mind and picked up a couple of things. One was that he knew Hiero. Her Hiero? Hmm, she wasn't sure she liked that but that was for later. He was also thinking about Max...but what he was thinking was unclear. When he approached her and Chance she blinked a couple of times and closed her shields once more. Locking her knees to keep from swaying slightly at the dizziness that assailed her.
Rayvan shook her head at Chance's silent question, she didn't know him. But obviously her boyfriend did, she wondered what that meant. Was Sabin another shifter? She could probably touch him and find out but she was loathe to do so.

Cord watched as Tak being the first responder took the Incident Commander role. It would be a good test of the mans skills. This was such a blight to the team it was best if they presented a united front. The information was still up in the air. Cord or Mayhew could relieve him but that would merely muddy the waters.
Cord sighed and made his way to his officers who while following SOP could be giving Takanashita a hand with things. He could only imagine the thoughts that would be going through their minds. He was not for the first time thankful hat his ability was a passive one that didn't impact on his life merely the world around him. He noticed the civvie being escorted through the barricade and his blood pressure rose a few degrees.
He didn't like any civilians this side of the line it made assuring the preservation of the investigations integrity all but impossible. Takanashita had better have a god damn reason for breaching the line. Thats when he spotted Sgt. Sikorski's daughter. She was nothing but trouble. Ever since she washed out of RPIT eleven years back she had a hard on with exposing what she saw as a risk to the public safety. If she knew RPIT was involved she'd bloodhound this thing into the ground. Takanashita passed a message to her that was so not going to work. Instead of leaping to any conclusions Cord made his way to the Civvie and his other officers.
"Mayhew, Wolfbaen, Whose this one?" Cord said motioning to the civilian who stood pensively watching the scene. The guy was dressed like he wiped his ass with a cops salary. He didn't have the eyes of a cop which meant that he wasn't a detective. He was too slight of build to be muscle. He hoped to god that he was wrong but their was a hum to him that meant he was probably other. He doubted that he was a freshly turned vampire so that left psychic, mage, or lycanthrope. Either one was so not what was needed here.
"You know what never mind who brought him across the line?" Rethinking his question he looked towards Takanshitas back as he barked orders to a few uniforms. Turning back to Mayhew and Wolfbaen. "You know what scrub that. One of you get this guy's pertinents and get him doing whatever it was that Takanshita wanted him for. The other I'm said to say will have to ride shotgun with me. This is the fire teams last pass through, the all clear should be coming any minute we've got to get in their before Ro/Ho does and see what we can find. This is a bad one judging by Crusinskis car still hear and warm he was home when this went down. We have to make sure one way or the other. Takanashitas running Incident on this lets give him as much professional help as we can. If he falters its RPIT that dropped the ball..." Looking at the civilian once more, Cord shook his head as he could swear that he recognized the man from out east. But that was an impossibility...

After Tak was glad to see Cord come over and show some interest in whats going on. As Tak walked over to Cord he gave orders Officers to preserve whats left of the scene. He walked over to Sabin and Cord.
"I have this civilian Sabin. I asked him here because he has a set of unique gifts that can help us understand what happened here. For the purpose of this investigation, and the investigation of Unsub he is here by deputized until further notice. Guys I'm gunning for damage control here. If we don't act fast the press will put pressure on the administration, and RPIT might fall. I don't want that to happen. Sabin do what you do best and tell me what you find. Chief unless you're taking over I got some more work to do. Chance unless you're taking over can you, and Rayvan look around and see if you can find something.
Tak waited for a response to see if Cord or Chance wanted this beast. This was getting bad, but maybe something could be salvaged.

"mayhew, wolfbean i am Dr. Sabin Shaw. i assume that tak wanted me here to assist. "
sabin looked at the humans he has some safety with the female ms wolfbean because anyone that hiero trusted to lay with he could at the very least trust... somewhat. trust was a thing that sabin didnt do easily. actually sabin lothed to trust people at all unless the connection was made with him.
"for the morst part i have concluded this inqury. so if tak wants me he can meet me near my car. officers good evening."
sabin tryed to be cold and distant as to not arouse any more suspision. max had to go down but it was not anything that he could do alone. he scanned the area for cameras. traffic lights, atm's, or even a gas station. something that would show an image of what happened here so that the proper order could be established.
"actually on second thought if you guys could tell me more of what you guys know i can hopefully fill in some of the blanks."

Chance took it all in and shook his head. “Tak’s got this one. Dr. Shaw, thank you for your help. My name’s Mayhew and this is Woflbaen.” Chance was gloved, so he could have shaken hands, but he didn’t. “Rayvan, would you bring Dr. Shaw up to speed? I want some hands-on with the site.” He knew Rayvan would understand what he meant. Chance wanted to see what he could pick up before anyone else started poking around and muddied the picture his talent could give him. He shot a quick look to Cord and stepped toward him.
Chance didn’t like that Jay’s car was here. He had a sinking feeling that this fire was way too convenient for someone’s plans.

"well ms wolfbean, i supposed that means that i'm all yours for the moment."
sabin took a deep breath. he couldn't shake the fact that toren's scent was still so weak. why in the world would toren be here, what purpose could he have for finding himself down here. he is only in one area, like he was riding shotgun or standing outside waiting for max to do whatever he was doing. but toren who was a null why in the world would he be working with a dragon. those thought circled in torens mind.
sabin thought process continued to get derailed. the smell of heiro was so close. he missed his friend but he did not want to drawn someone so close to him, into the darkness of what he was doing. sabin took a few slow steps back from the female in a weak attempt put space between himself and the lion that he missed. he needed someone he could talk to and put his shields down and relax and the only person that was living he could think of was hiero.
he pulled his cell phone out and thought really hard about dialing his buddy up. the thought lingered in his mind before he put the phone away.
"so ms wolfbean what can you tell me."

The scene was in mass confusion, everyone talking over every one else and their thoughts all going fifty directions at once. Very disconcerting for the woman who stood among them and could in a sense -hear- everything they were all thinking. With the exception of Tak that is. She gave a crisp nod to Chance and then turned to Sabin.
"Dr. Shaw, at this point we don't know much. This apartment building housed one of our detectives, and it seems that our Lt. might have been here as well when what ever happened went down. Now, I am curious as to why a doctor was called in on an arson and homicide case. Mind giving me a clue?" Or do I need to ask Hiero about you? She sent the thought at him so that no one else would know what was being said. She could carry on a completely coherent conversation in both her head and in verbal speech at the same time, now seemed to be the time to do so.
