Chicago...Home of a population of over three million people.
Despite what is known Chicago is not the only corrupt City;
It is not the Second City;
It is not even a distinctly solely American City.
It was all those things once and maybe will be again.
Chicago is Chicago.
It has always had a strange affinity of death about it. It has always had its own elegance. A certain way that a hog butchered here was a 'Chicago' butchered hog. Its broad shouldered way of doing things was as distinctive as a Marshall Fields Gabardine over coat.
But this last year death has come to roost in its winter home. The death toll skyrocketed as the value of both life and the dollar plummetted. Monsters roamed both the light of day and the darkest nights. Chicago's Underworld the vast nebulous entity that was as eponymous as an american made car in detroit took several major hits. The canvas had been torn. The Capo de Capo's of the family that held reign with an iron fist... sent to the next world in a blaze of glory.
The beleagured and beset officers of Chicago's RPIT being threatened with Federal Intervention. Their numbers dwindled to a emaciated levels.
The Lycanthropes scrabbling for cohesion while maintaining their anonymity. Losing their way beneath the weight of disappearances, debacles, and deaths.
The Fae seeking a voice lost to their own machinations.
All the while the Undead sit behind their ivory castles watching as the city broils like the runoff of a charnel house. Their is a plan afoot but will anyone survive the coming storms of winter.
Welcome to Chicago...
Arm yourself.

bringing the pain « Thread Started on Oct 17, 2009, 4:52pm »
T’lynx’tri came to the stall much like he promised he would. In a box held the promised pain that was payment to Esme for what was bartered for. Within the box was a beautiful crystal statuette of a swan taking flight; however his true gift was the base. The base itself is where his pain was stashed. As T’lynx’tri was selecting the pain filled memory to inject into the statue he also took very special care as to decide where he would place it and what it should be. The statue had a timeless beauty to it and the image was fitting in so much as to what Esme wanted it for. She would be able to look at it and enjoy the twin meaning to what was held inside. A gift so precious and rare much as this timeless statue.
He walked to the stall and waited until she would show herself. So that he could present the box.

She arrived in what was her traditional manor by now looking little more then some rag covered dreg that haunted the placeof the markets allies. She was good at hiding herself especially since most never knew she was in a wheel chair. She moved up next to T'lynxtri stopping and watching those come and go from her shop hoping to see here and yet hoping they dont she was human a curiosity to many hhere.
"To what may I call the pleasure of your visit?" Her words were soft and unlaced and plain as plain could be for him.

T’lynx’tri looked at the dreg briefly before the timber and the sound of her voice registered. It was Esme that was standing next to him. He quickly took stock of her dress and dismissed it as one of many disguises that she would more than likely employ to be overlooked within this realm. “I owed you a debt and I never let any debt go unpaid. I owed you pain and I shall pay in full.” T’lynx’tri presented her with a simple box. With him there was no preamble, just the who and what he is. “Does this dismiss my debt to you Esme?” It was a simple question. Missing was the fanfare that was so easy for his brother and any other with magic flowing from their pores. His voice was gentle and yet still interlaced with menace. "Do you require assistance with opening the shop? I have a few hours to kill and it could be interesting to learn how that is done."
