Chicago...Home of a population of over three million people. Despite what is known Chicago is not the only corrupt City; It is not the Second City; It is not even a distinctly solely American City. It was all those things once and maybe will be again. Chicago is Chicago. It has always had a strange affinity of death about it. It has always had its own elegance. A certain way that a hog butchered here was a 'Chicago' butchered hog. Its broad shouldered way of doing things was as distinctive as a Marshall Fields Gabardine over coat. But this last year death has come to roost in its winter home. The death toll skyrocketed as the value of both life and the dollar plummetted. Monsters roamed both the light of day and the darkest nights. Chicago's Underworld the vast nebulous entity that was as eponymous as an american made car in detroit took several major hits. The canvas had been torn. The Capo de Capo's of the family that held reign with an iron fist... sent to the next world in a blaze of glory. The beleagured and beset officers of Chicago's RPIT being threatened with Federal Intervention. Their numbers dwindled to a emaciated levels. The Lycanthropes scrabbling for cohesion while maintaining their anonymity. Losing their way beneath the weight of disappearances, debacles, and deaths. The Fae seeking a voice lost to their own machinations. All the while the Undead sit behind their ivory castles watching as the city broils like the runoff of a charnel house. Their is a plan afoot but will anyone survive the coming storms of winter. Welcome to Chicago... Arm yourself.

[ ]Kingston Mines
Kingston Mines is Chicago's oldest and largest real blues club. The newly-renovated Doc's Rib Joint serves the finest barbeque ribs, wings, catfish and more for late-night dining pleasure. Seven nights a week Kingston Mines presents Chicago Blues on two stages with two bands and guest vocalists. Kingston Mines humbly bills itself as the "Playground of the Stars," and it's a safe bet that many of those celebs drop by the spacious joint because of its late-night license. The Mines is the only North Side blues club open until at least 4am every night, so blues artists with other gigs parade through in search of cool libations and music as soon as they're off-duty. Owner Doc Pellegrino employs local musicians almost exclusively. On weekends, the place brings in the likes of guitarist Eddy Clearwater, harpist Billy Branch and sax man A.C. Reed. Having two bands on two stages in two rooms occasionally leads to the house's own version of musical chairs, as customers scurry from one room to the other in a futile search for seating.

[ ]Exit
The Exit crowd's look--black leather, PVC and latex--recalls Chicago's industrial heyday, when the Wax Trax label had cachet. But the people are as nice as their threads are intimidating. Amid the gothic, post-apocalyptic decor, the main level features a lengthy bar, pool table and vintage motorcycles bolted to the ground. Vintage '40s and '50s porn plays on monitors upstairs, where a second bar and the caged dance floor (equipped with smoke machine) reside.

[ ]Sonotheque
Sonotheque sets a high standard for clean looks, but the emphasis is actually on music. Adventurous local DJs and touring lounge heavies such as Thievery Corporation man the decks behind the glass. There's also no price-gouging; drinks ranging from bottles of British ales to select wines are very reasonable. The crowd tends to be sexy, but unpretentious. Come early to secure a low-slung lounge for your cool cadre. A strikingly minimal Chicago Avenue facade gives way to a large room done in greys and browns with a lengthy bar. Walls sport futuristic shapes to enhance acoustics; high and back-lit at both ends are unusual speakers, providing custom detailed sonics. This venture is a fresh and welcome option in Chicago nightlife.

[ ]Fizz
Fizz probably carries your favorite brew, with about a dozen drafts and two dozen more in bottles; it's also safe to order cosmos, martinis or any other cocktails from the full bar. Food offerings lean toward southern and southwestern dishes, such as pulled pork sandwiches, stuffed filet mignon, black bean and sweet corn wontons, and a crab cake BLT. From up the street, look for the bottle cap with "Fizz" written on it. Outside, tall, curved front windows once displayed men's clothing. Inside, it's clean and airy, with brick, wood paneling and clusters of low tables stretching back behind the bar. Drink specials define theme nights, like "sneaky tiki" Wednesdays, with fun fruity drinks and low-cost Coronas. Fizz's second level has pool tables, a DJ and sometimes bands. Service is attentive, and the crowd is made up of young professionals.

[ ]The Funky Buddha Lounge
The atmosphere is a combination of a lounge and upscale dance club with antique light fixtures, chandeliers, murals of sexy women, a dimly lit bar, steel cocktail tables and a flickering assortment of candles and lights. The club is divided into two small rooms, the first with a long bar against one side of the wall and an array of comfy couches and chairs for lounging. The second room has a mid-sized dance floor with a bar toward the back and an entrance to the roped-off VIP section. Bars are fully stocked, but not cheap (nothing here is). The Buddha has built its reputation by featuring different genres every night, including hip-hop, "raptures of rhythm" and Latin jazz.
The Funky Buddha lounge is the only clean air certified night club facility in the city of Chicago. Their filtritation system is the finest available. They do not sell any tobacco products. The Funky Buddha serves more organic and chemical free spirits than anyone in the country. They have a complete line of organic juices, teas, and sodas. All of their wines are either organic or come from chemical-free grapes. The Funky Buddha is constantly recognized as one of the best nighttime options in the city.

[ ]G-Cue
A new generation pool hall for the quickly redeveloping neighborhood, G-Cue is a two-story space with 26 tables (24 pool, two official billiards), though other diversions also abound. Each floor has its own jukebox, and six flat-screens broadcast sports, movies or news. A lounge area boasts a fireplace and swanky sofas. The two-page martini list is realized at two full bars, while the kitchen serves an array of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees.

[ ]Berlin
This is raciness at its best, particularly past midnight. Berlin is full of gay, gay-curious and gay-loving individuals chugging Jager shots, froufrou drinks and standard mixed potions. Rotating DJs regularly spin danceables from Fischerspooner, the Streets and Ladytron, but the vibe can vary greatly from night to night. For a dance club, drinks are surprisingly cheap and hefty. Long known as one of the city's premier gay bars, this hetero-friendly spot still pulls out all the stops, thanks to grinding beats and no-holds-barred dancing. Whether cutely coiffed, shirtless or dressed in all-out drag, guys here (and their female entourages) know how to get down and dirty, making the vivid '60s-meets-'70s decor--wood-paneled walls with bold polka-dot cutouts--a mere backdrop; dark exterior windows keep inside antics under wraps.

[ ]Neo
Neo, is a lukoi run club and one of the oldest alternative dance clubs in Chicago. A long alley leads to the entrance of one of Chicago's most progressive nightspots. A long granite bar serves up the gin and tonics, while the DJ spins a great mix of alternative and industrial tracks. On many occasions, the patrons on the dance floor are an act unto themselves. It is open as late as Exit but seems to be more daunting as there is always a cover. The decor is darker than dark black on black on black lit only by blacklights and glowing eyes. You can occasionally see break-dancing vampires, or catatonic dancing to the pulsing electro and goth music blaring from the speakers. It reigns supreme as the Goth home in Chicago. For all of its counterculture rebelliousness it has the highest average age of patrons in Chicago. While most mortals are offput the preternatural Community find on those nights wher they want to cut lose that there are few places to rival its umbral chic.

[ ]Green Dolphin Street
Green Dolphin Street is one of the best jazz clubs in Chicago. The restaurant is a returning favorite. The owners somehow find first rate chefs willing to work what is locally known as the pub circuit crowd. The lobby bar is winding and elegant evoking the mood of being thrown back to the time of speakeasys and jook joints. The main dance area hosts an ever changing list of bands that ignite the feet of swing dancers young and old. The atmosphere is swanky, yet the crowd is very sociable and informal. This is especially astounding as the club has been a home for dabbles, psychics and mages since its opening. It is one of Chicago's premiere mortal preternatural sources of information gathering. High ranked mages the world over occasionally stop here to conduct meetings as the privacy simply can't be beat.
